Adopt an Elephant Program

Program Overview

Adopt an Elephant is a program established through Pink Ivory Ed. which an environmental education organization run by OCT certified teachers and wildlife conservationists. We are partnered with Reteti  which is an Indigenous-led elephant sanctuary and rescue located in Kenya. Our mission is to bridge the gap between conservation and education through access to environmental education. Our specific focus is on African Savannah elephants and elementary school staff/students. Our goal is to empower Ontario elementary students to take agency in their own learning, combat social justice issues, develop global connection, and tap into their philanthropic selves! All proceeds raised are allocated to rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned wild elephants in Kenya.

Program Structure

  • Program information is provided to schools!
  • Class leads decided on fundraising initiatives and timelines.
  • Pink Ivory's Grey Shirt Day celebrates the culmination of fundraising efforts through environmental story telling.
  • Classes/Students are awarded prizes are and a funds are collected.
  • 100% of funds raised are donated to partner organization.
  • Environmental Education lesson plans are left with classes (K-8) which coincide with Social Studies and Geography curriculum to extend learning.

Flexible Budgetary Framework

Pink Ivory Ed. is dedicated to providing accessible environmental education to staff and students. We have a flexible budgetary framework that accommodates for different school/group sizes and budget capacity. Please contact us for specialized plans and offers.

Environmental Education Presentation Our environmental education presentation is a captivating hour of celebration and amazing feeling of global connection. Bilingual elephant conservationist, Stephanie Bush, will deliver a specialized presentation to Kindergarten - Grade 8 students. Our partnership with Reteti and their work is explored, how students can become wildlife advocates, and the school's adopted elephant is presented. Schools are given merchandise order forms ahead of the presentation. Our Grey Shirt Day is also presentation day! A program slide deck is also provided prior to presentation day which includes elephant related resources for teachers. Students are encouraged to wear grey in support of wildlife conservation-specifically the African Elephant-on presentation day. Prizes are awarded to classes for their efforts and funds for Reteti Elephant Sanctuary are collected. Schools are given a certificate of adoption, updates, and live feeds of their elephant to access throughout the school year. Presentations are offered in French and English. After the presentation, staff are given K-8 lesson plans that align with the Ontario Social Studies and Geography curriculum to extend learning. A follow-up email for program feedback is sent out to schools for continuous program improvement!
