Our Story

Pink Ivory Ed is a charitable environmental education  organization. We bring environmental education workshops to elementary school staff and students across Southern Ontario, Canada. We are currently working on bridging school boards and conservation organization for the ultimate collaboration. Our organization runs fundraisers within local schools . 100% of all school raised money is allocated towards partner organizations and their conservation efforts. In 2025, our focus is primarily African elephants. To extend learning, our organization provides not only workshops but lesson plans and resources to educators post program. We hope to bring wildlife conservation to life from remote spaces into the Western world. Our program enables students to take agency in social justice issues. It allows them to feel empowered to explore their philanthropic selves through conservation fundraising.

Our Name

The name Pink Ivory Ed. carries deep symbolism, blending conservation, education, and hope for a future where human wildlife coexistence is less complex. The phrase "Pink Ivory" has dual meanings. First, it refers to pink ivory wood, a rare African hardwood valued like elephant ivory but sustainably sourced. This represents the idea of choosing ethical, conservation-focused alternatives over destructive exploitation. Second, it reimagines ivory itself—if elephant ivory were naturally pink, it would lose its value in the illegal wildlife trade. The theoretical ideologies of pink ivory aligns with our mission to rethink human relationships with wildlife and find sustainable solutions for coexistence.

At Pink Ivory Ed., we bridge education and conservation to help future generations understand the challenges in conservation. By teaching students about human-wildlife coexistence, we inspire them to become advocates for ethical conservation practices. Just as the idea of "pink ivory" challenges the status quo of the ivory trade, our mission challenges the way we approach conservation—through knowledge sharing, story telling, access to resources and education, action, and a big commitment to protecting wildlife.

About the Founder

Hi there!

My name is Stephanie Bush and I am the founder of Pink Ivory Ed. I currently live in Ontario, Canada with my husband, daughter, and our two furry friends. Professionally, I am a certified French teacher, and I hold a Master's Degree from York University in Environmental Studies and Environment Education. I fell in love with African wildlife at a young age and equally wanted to pursue a career in education. After teaching in Tanzania and conducting elephant research in Botswana, I wanted to find a way to bridge my two passions -education and conservation. After welcoming our daughter in 2024, I knew that I had to pursue something meaningful to hopefully inspire a better world for her tomorrow. So happy that you landed on our page- welcome to the herd!

Why Pink Ivory?

We are a charitable environmental education organization. We offer an "Adopt an Elephant" program to Ontario elementary students and staff. We bring environmental education resources to teachers while connecting schools with amazing conservation organizations in Africa. We bring conservation to life in spaces where elephants are not top of mind. Connection, classroom, conservation.
